Director Software Engineering - Segments TechAs a Capital One Director of Software Engineering, you'll work on everything from customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge open source frameworks, to highly-available RESTful microservices, to back-end Java based systems using the hottest techniques in Big Data. You'll bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: node.js, Java, GO, AngularJS, Python, REST, JSON, XML, NoSQL, Cassandra, Chef, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few. You will partner closely with key business and product leaders across our Mainstreet customer segment to develop a robust technical strategy to reinvent how our customers access and use credit to achieve their financial goals. - - -You will: -

• Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team
• Partner with the business to define technology strategy and then lead delivery across multiple platforms throughout the organization
• Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios -
• Continuously improve software engineering practices
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack development tools and technologies
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
• Work across to improve the velocity of your and other teams
• Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments
• Break existing monolithic applications into micro service architectures and build new microservicesBasic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 7 years' experience in software development
  • At least 5 years' experience in people managementPreferred Qualifications:
    • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology
    • 10+ years years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python or Go -
    • 7+ years of people management experience
    • 5+ years' of experience in Agile practices
    • 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks

Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.Chicago, IL: $239,900 - $273,800 for Director, Software Engineering -McLean, VA: $263,900 - $301,200 for Director, Software Engineering -Richmond, VA: $239,900 - $273,800 for Director, Software Engineering - - - - - - - -Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
