  • 401k with matchPOSITION SUMMARYAn engineering technician designs and tests equipment/processes, executes plans for construction and design, documents activities, and carries out any other relevant technical tasks as determined by project needs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Designs and builds prototypes of planned product or equipment.
      • Performs/assists in the construction of said products and equipment.
      • Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, physical and chemical separation techniques, and microscopy.
        • Accurately document with batch records, graphs, and charts to record results.
        • Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials of raw materials and product batches.
          • Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses.
          • Generate (or assist in generating) blueprints and plans for products and equipment.
            • Maintains records and files of all completed engineering work using the R&D document system.
            • Able to understand and interpret engineering terminology.
            • Develops or assists in developing new chemical engineering processes or production techniques.
            • Operate experimental pilot processes, assisting with experimental design.
              • Runs tests on products and equipment to ensure they function properly.
              • Provides suggestions for ways to improve products and equipment.
              • Conducts regular maintenance on products and equipment.
              • Provide technical support and assistance to chemists and engineers.
              • Prepare chemical solutions for products and processes following standardized formulas, or create experimental formulas.
              • Communicate results to Project Leadership and keep fellow lab technicians and supervisor informed.
              • Write technical reports or prepare graphs and charts to document experimental results.
                • Writes up reports of daily laboratory activity.
                • Maintain, clean, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
                • Order and inventory materials to maintain laboratory supplies.
                  • Replaces equipment parts when needed.
                  • Supervise or monitor other R&D Technicians/plant personnel producing chemical products for R&D Projects.
                  • Maintain files, Certificates of Analysis, Safety Data Sheets, etc. for processes.
                  • Keeps apprised of the latest developments and innovations in the industry.
                  • Provides technical support to customers and employees.
                    • Exhibits solid customer service and interpersonal skills.
                    • Demonstrates ability to translate scientific jargon into layman's terms for explanatory purposes.
                    • Exhibits strong organizational skills.
                    • Possesses/demonstrates solid writing skills.
                    • Communicates clearly and effectively.
                    • Ensures that all safety procedures are observed during laboratory work.
                      • Exhibits familiarity with proper lab safety procedures.
                      • Don safety equipment and to follow instructions for evacuating in case of fire or chemical emergency.
                      • Abide by all Company and OSHA safety standards set for work areas.
                      • Abide by all applicable FDA and Quality standards.Education/Experience/Skills
                        • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
                        • Technical Degree in relevant field, Chemistry or Engineering is preferred.
                        • 4-5 years related experience
                        • Intermediate knowledge of laboratory techniques
                        • MS Word and Excel knowledge required
                        • Technical/Mechanical aptitude; high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
                        • Works well on a team.
